1. Introduction
This Seller Policy governs the relationship between Preloved Uniforms (“we”, “us”, “the Platform”) and individuals who register to sell items on our Platform (“Sellers”). By registering as a Seller, you agree to be bound by this Policy, our Terms & Conditions, and all applicable South African law including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).
Please read this Policy carefully before listing any items.
2. Who Can Sell on Preloved Uniforms
To register as a Seller, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a resident of the Republic of South Africa
- Have a valid South African bank account for payment disbursement
- Have a valid email address and mobile phone number
- Agree to our Terms & Conditions and this Seller Policy
3. Account Registration & Verification
- You must provide accurate, complete, and truthful information during registration
- You may be required to verify your identity before listing items or receiving payments
- You are responsible for keeping your account details up to date
- You may not create multiple seller accounts
- We reserve the right to verify any information you provide and to reject or suspend accounts that contain false or misleading information
4. What You Can Sell
Preloved Uniforms is a marketplace specifically for:
- Preloved school uniforms — including shirts, trousers, skirts, blazers, sports kit, and other uniform items
- School and university textbooks — accurately described by title, author, edition, and condition
4.1 Item Condition Standards
All items listed must fall into one of the following condition categories:
- Like New — worn once or twice, no visible wear or damage
- Good — gently used with minor signs of wear, fully functional
- Fair — noticeable wear but still fully usable, all defects disclosed
Items must not be listed as a condition higher than they actually are.
5. Prohibited Items
The following items may not be listed on the Platform:
- Counterfeit, replica, or fake branded items
- Stolen goods or items obtained unlawfully
- Items that are unsafe, hazardous, or illegal to sell in South Africa
- Heavily damaged, torn, or unwearable items
- Items that do not fall within the school uniform, textbook, or educational supplies categories
- Adult content of any kind
- Items listed on behalf of a third party without their written consent
We reserve the right to remove any listing that violates this Policy without notice.
6. Listing Requirements
All listings must include:
- Clear, honest photographs — minimum 2 photos showing the actual item, including any defects
- Accurate title — including school name, item type, size, and gender where applicable
- Honest description — detailing the condition, any stains, damage, fading, or repairs
- Correct price — in South African Rand (ZAR)
- Correct category — uniform, book, or supplies
6.1 Photography Standards
- Photos must be of the actual item you are selling — not stock images
- Photos must be clear, well-lit, and show the item from multiple angles
- Close-up photos of any defects or damage are required
6.2 Pricing
- You set your own price
- Preloved Uniforms retains a 20% platform commission on each successful sale
- You receive 80% of the final sale price once the buyer confirms receipt
- Prices must be fair and not artificially inflated
7. Your Obligations as a Seller
By listing an item, you confirm that:
- You are the rightful owner of the item
- The item is accurately described and photographed
- All defects, damage, or wear have been disclosed
- The item is ready for collection within 2 business days of a sale being confirmed
- You will cooperate with the courier (BobGo) for collection arrangements
- You will not attempt to transact with buyers outside of the Preloved Uniforms Platform
8. Commission & Payment
8.1 Platform Commission
Preloved Uniforms charges a 20% commission on the sale price of each item sold. This covers:
- Platform hosting and maintenance
- Payment processing
- Buyer protection and dispute resolution
- Customer support
8.2 Payment Disbursement
- Your earnings (80% of the sale price) will be disbursed to your registered South African bank account
- Payment is released once the buyer has confirmed receipt of the item, or after 48 hours following confirmed delivery with no dispute raised
- Payments are typically processed within 3–5 business days after release
- Preloved Uniforms is not responsible for delays caused by your bank
8.3 Disputed Transactions
If a buyer raises a dispute, payment will be held until the dispute is resolved. If the dispute is found in the buyer’s favour due to seller misrepresentation, the refund amount will be deducted from your earnings.
9. Delivery & Collection
- All deliveries are managed through BobGo courier services
- The buyer pays the courier fee
- You must make the item available for collection within 2 business days of sale confirmation
- You must ensure the item is securely packaged before collection
- You must be available or arrange a suitable collection point for the courier
- Failure to make an item available for collection may result in order cancellation and account penalties
10. Seller Conduct
As a Seller, you agree to:
- Communicate honestly and respectfully with buyers and Preloved Uniforms staff
- Not engage in any form of fraud, misrepresentation, or deceptive conduct
- Not manipulate reviews, ratings, or feedback
- Not solicit buyers to transact outside the Platform
- Not list the same item on multiple platforms simultaneously once a sale is confirmed on Preloved Uniforms
- Comply with all applicable South African laws, including the CPA and POPIA
11. Ratings & Reviews
Buyers may leave ratings and reviews for completed transactions. You may not:
- Offer incentives in exchange for positive reviews
- Threaten or harass buyers who leave negative reviews
- Create fake buyer accounts to review your own listings
We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate our community standards.
12. Account Suspension & Termination
Your seller account may be suspended or permanently terminated if you:
- Repeatedly misrepresent item condition or description
- Fail to make items available for collection without reasonable cause
- Engage in fraudulent or deceptive conduct
- Repeatedly cancel confirmed orders
- Violate any provision of this Policy or our Terms & Conditions
- Receive a pattern of negative buyer complaints
We will notify you of suspension where possible, however we reserve the right to act immediately in cases of serious misconduct.
13. Tax Obligations
Sellers are responsible for their own tax obligations. Preloved Uniforms does not withhold or submit tax on your behalf. If your total earnings from selling on the Platform exceed the South African Revenue Service (SARS) threshold for taxable income, you are required to declare this income. We recommend consulting a tax professional if you are unsure of your obligations.
14. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this Seller Policy at any time. Changes will be communicated via email and posted on the Platform with an updated date. Continued use of your seller account after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
